Can you introduce the members? The Wisdom Of Harry is me and also includes David Sheppard who plays in State River Widening and is the other half of Ellis Island Sound with me. (by the way I¹m not actually in State River Widening. Some people think I am), tho I have done a collaboration with two of them under the name and which will have a 7² out on faux-lux in a couple of months (just to confuse things). When we play live we are joined by Chris Summers who twiddles knobs and fucks around with filters on the drumbox. He is actually a very good trap drummer but we prefer machines. How did Wisdom of Harry come about? Jesus, uh‹I dreamt it up. I¹d done various music stuff in the past (as singer/songwriter with The Loft and The Weather Prophets for Creation Records. Our fist release on them was when Mc Gee was still working as a clerk at Euston station in London!) & my taste started to change. I got fed up with the whole bare yr soul/heres another one about me and my bloody feelings S/S schtick & I found myself getting exited by new music again. I starting with rediscovering hip-hop (1st Cypress Hill album for example) Then on to going clubbing at places like Speed & Metalheadz where the whole jungle/D&B thing was kicking off, as well as the whole Warp/Artificial Intelligence electronic music angle. Anyway, I found myself in the position of being a fan of music again & it was really good & exciting + I think started me off on wanting a go at it. I bumped into David in a pub when we were out with mutual friends & found ourselves to be the only people talking about new, weird music. So we decided to make some. What inspires you to create music? Life in all its magnificent and annoying forms. What instruments and equipment do you use to make your sounds? Atari1040, Akai2800, Emu Keyboard Module, DX7, Behrenger compressor, Folio Lite mixer, Marantz hi-fi amp, homemade speakers(no brand), G&L ASAT electric guitar, Roland Bently Rhythm Ace drumbox, Fosdex R8 reel to reel, Sans amp GT2, Sony Dictaphone, Casio Portasound PSS9... Do you record at home? Yes! I noticed that you were listed as collaborating with Piano Magic on their last album. How do you know them and what did you do on the album? I know Glen from cant remember + me & David sang and played on an old Disco Inferno favorite ³Waking Up.² We also remixed a track of theirs for a 12² 4-way split single on Liquifaction Empire (see discography on faux-lux site) Have you done any other collaborations? Only the thing mentioned above plus a track with German artist The Autist to be released on faux-lux soon. Do you have a current day job? Yeah, I do some consultancy work for Beggars Banquet in London What exactly is Faux-Lux? My label‹whatever I want to do with it! What are your plans for the future? Keep working & take it easy. [end]
